Born in South Korea, Yuna started competing internationally at the senior level at age 16. The 2010 Olympic gold medalist also holds three World Championships. Yuna is a
Goodwill Ambassador for Unicef, raising awareness of needs for the organization. She donates prize money from many awards to Unicef or other relief and development efforts for children. Off the ice, bloggers and paparazzi track her polished casual look. On the ice, Yuna loves fashion forward skating dresses. Here's four prom gowns inspired by Yuna's skating style.
A
one shoulder dress from Bari Jay features sheer panels embellished with beaded motifs that flash across the bodice and shoulder strap. A side front slit and train accent the asymmetrically gathered skirt that swishes around to a short train in back. If Yuna hit the red carpet, this would be a dramatic choice in either black, royal blue or white.
I chose this long formal gown after watching
Yuna's 2013 International Skating Union program. A
silver one shoulder open back dress from Betsy and Adamevokes that same sophistication. Beads and sequin motifs wrap around an illusion panel at the waist and divide to create an asymmetrical wrap around the back and hip. Bias cut, this long evening gown has back godets that flare into a slight train.
Pink, gold and silver would look fabulous on Yuna's beautiful winter complexion. Don't you think Yuna would rock
Sherri Hill's strapless high low sequin dress? Sequins sewn in strategic lines define the bodice, waist and trickle down a sheer skirt. This high low gown is a perfect choice for prom, wedding or formal events.
Yuna's strength and elegance would shine in
La Femme's strapless dress with side cut outs. I chose another long gown with a side slit guess I see this as a signature choice for Yuna. Beaded accents at the side mark the straps that wrap around to support this dramatic evening gown. Perhaps this may be too daring for prom, but for the right girl, this elegance would be smashing!
